Michelle Lauron is a successful prosecutor who has dedicated her career to keeping the people of San Bernardino County safe from crime and violence. Driven by an unwavering dedication to fairness and impartial justice, Michelle is qualified and now prepared to put her commitment to justice and courtroom experience to work as a Superior Court Judge. As a San Bernardino County Deputy District Attorney, Michelle has prosecuted murders, rapes, child sexual assaults, domestic violence, drug trafficking, violent crimes, and welfare fraud.
She has also supervised prosecutions of major crimes, cold case homicides, felonies and misdemeanors. Currently serving as a Supervising Deputy District Attorney, Michelle manages over a dozen prosecutors. By mentoring new attorneys and law clerks, Michelle has been instrumental in preparing the next generation of prosecutors for the District Attorney’s Office. Michelle’s judicial philosophy is clear: Judges must enforce laws as written, protect everyone’s Constitutional rights, appropriately punish the guilty, never silence the voices of victims, and always free the innocent.
A resident of San Bernardino County for over 35 years, Michelle grew up the in High Desert and graduated from Apple Valley High School in 1987. Michelle earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from University of California, Irvine the before acquiring her Law Degree from the University of California, Davis. During law school, Michelle completed internships at both District Attorney’s and Public Defender’s Offices in San Bernardino County. This experience provides Michelle with a unique understanding of both sides of the criminal justice system.
Michelle joined the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office in 1995. There she excelled as a prosecutor, trying her first murder case to a guilty verdict in 1998. In addition to her prosecutorial work, Michelle is a highly respected educator. She has taught for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Academy for over 23 years. Michelle also served as a Lecturer at the University of California, Irvine School of Social Sciences.
Widely recognized for her compassion and empathy, Michelle is deeply involved in her community and coaches local high school Mock Trial teams. Many of the high school students who participated in Mock Trial have continued on to law school and today, are practicing attorneys and prosecutors within our County.
Michelle and her husband Michael, also a career prosecutor, have been married for over 27 years. The couple has two adult children. They have lived in Rancho Cucamonga the entire time. They are active in their church, leading faith formation classes and involved in numerous marriage and youth ministries.
